The Cemetery Trustees, Ruth Hammen, Fred Shaw and Brenda Boswak met on August 3, 2026, at the Historical Society building.
OLD BUSINESS
On July 7, 2026, at the Selectman’s meeting the Board reviewed the bids received for the tree removal project in the town cemeteries and awarded the bid to Accurate Tree Service. The Board will assume the responsibility of securing a signed contract, certificate of insurance, date of service and contacting abutters, as needed. We noticed the Board published on their agenda a work date for the tree removal beginning September 15-17, 2026. We emailed the Board to confirm this date. The response was yes. We will need to post cemetery closure notices and arrange interments accordingly, as the date approaches.
NH Monuments, Don Cotnoir is working on powder coating and creating hinges for the Batchelder Cemetery gate.
NEW BUSINESS
Two lots have been sold in Leavitt Cemetery and the cornerstones ordered from NH Monuments.
Brenda will contact the Select Board to put Wreaths Across America Day 2026 on the town calendar and website and reserve the Town Hall for that date.
No update from Garry Kalajian, Ararat Forge, on the Kaime Cemetery gates. Brenda will contact him. Restoration and cleaning has been completed on some of the gravestones at Kaime Cemetery.
Brenda has ordered more gravestone cleaner to work on more stones at Pineground Cemetery & True Cemetery.
The Cemetery Trustees have received inquiries about green burials. We had a lengthy discussion to prepare a ‘Guidelines for Green Burial’ policy. Brenda will create a draft of the topics talked about and the Trustees will continue discussion at the next meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
Respectfully submitted, Brenda Boswak, Cemetery Trustee, Secretary
