The Cemetery Trustees, Ruth Hammen, Fred Shaw and Brenda Boswak met on July 6, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at the Historical Society building. Selectman Matt Stolnis attended also.
OLD BUSINESS
Don Cotnoir, NH Monuments, has completed the removal of the metal gate post at Batchelder Cemetery, and installed a granite post to match the other gate post. We repurposed a discarded granite post from Leavitt Cemetery that is the correct size. He has proposed powder-coating the gate and providing hinges. The Trustees asked him for an estimate.
Garry Kalajian, Ararat Forge, repainted the Knowlton-Edgerly Cemetery gates that he installed last season. He is working on gates for Kaime Cemetery.
Fred will follow up with the Town Administrator for the status on the information we provided to be submitted to AVITAR of boundary information on town cemeteries that are missing from the town tax map.
We contacted the Town Treasurer about a discrepancy we found in the 2025 Cemetery General Expense spreadsheet. No further update from the Treasurer.
NEW BUSINESS
Selectmen Matt Stolnis met with us to review the bids received for the cemetery tree removal project. The bidding closed on June 30, 2026. He brought two bids for us to review. Selectman Stolnis stated he believes there may be more. Selectwoman Carrianne Wood has been overseeing this process and is out of town until July 9, and he does not know where to locate any other bids received. The Cemetery Trustees requested to meet with the Selectmen on July 14, 2026, to review the remaining bids and asked that the Selectmen decide on a bid at that meeting. Selectmen Stolnis agreed to place us on the agenda.
Martha Dodge-Wilkerson has provided a written amendment to her trust that includes the word ‘new’ to avoid confusion in the future. Fred will process this with the Trustees of the Trust Funds and the state of New Hampshire.
We revised the ‘Payment Request to Trustees of the Trust Funds’ for clarity. Linda Rauter met with us to discuss the purchase of a ‘Right to Inter’ contract and receive information on green burials in Chichester.
The Cemetery Trustees agreed to have a display on Old Home Day on August 15, 2026.
