The Cemetery Trustees, Ruth Hammen, Fred Shaw and Brenda Boswak met on December 1, 2025 @ 10:15 a.m. at the Historical Society building.
OLD BUSINESS
We have received an estimate for tree removal in Leavitt Cemetery from Extol Tree Care, LLC and Magoon Tree Service, LLC. There are many declining and dead trees along the boundary fence/wall of the cemetery. We prioritized the worst five trees for removal in 2026.
NEW BUSINESS Wreaths Across America Day is scheduled for December 13, @ noontime. All 220 veterans’ wreaths have been sponsored. Frank Swirko has agreed to be Master of Ceremony again this year. Brenda is still searching for two more military volunteers to participate in the ceremony. A special town meeting has been schedule for December 13, 2025 @ 9:00 a.m. at Chichester Central School. The Cemetery Trustees sent an email to the Selectboard requesting them to reschedule the town meeting to allow town residents to participate fully in both events. We have had no response from them. Brenda will ask the Town Administrator, Cindy, to post the Wreath Day information on the town webpage. We will store the wreaths in the Town Hall after they are delivered. Brenda will ask about getting a key to the Town Hall.
The Cemetery Trustees have submitted our budget request for 2026 and will attend the December 9, 2025, Selectmen and Budget Committee meeting to provide more information and photos to support our budget request.
Fred has updated the google drive with cemetery documents for 2025 activity. Burials, invoices, payments, photos etc.
Garry Kalajian, Ararat Forget, blacksmith, is working on a design and estimate for two wrought iron gates for Kaime Cemetery. He will meet with us in February 2026 to discuss his proposal. L
eavitt Cemetery and Pineground Cemetery double gates will be closed today. A substantial snowfall is forecast for the next two days. Brenda will ask the Town Administrator to post the notice on the town website.
