July 7, 2025 @ 9:00 a.m. the Cemetery Trustees met at the Historical Society building. Ruth Hammen, Fred Shaw and Brenda Boswak were in attendance.

OLD BUSINESS

June 17, 2025, Ruth & Brenda attended the Selectmen’s meeting where Scott Tepper submitted a complaint to the Selectmen regarding his disagreement with the Cemetery Trustees decision to not remove a dirt pile located at the rear corner of Leavitt Cemetery. We visited the area, took measurements and photos to submit to the Selectmen. The Selectmen voted to request the town Road Agent remove the dirt pile at the rear corner of Leavitt Cemetery. Ruth requested that the Cemetery Trustees be notified when this work takes place.

The Cemetery Trustees visited Fellows-Webster Cemetery on Swiggey Brook Road on June 16, 2025. Boundary measurements were taken based on the description recorded in the quitclaim deed for Geana Baum. No boundary markers were placed at this time. Ruthie recalled granite steps leading up to the cemetery.  Brush was cleared at the cemetery entrance and a granite step was located under several inches of debris. We will need to schedule another visit to dig further down to search for the steps. Ruthie will contact Lane Hodgkins to clear all the bushes/trees along the roadside boundary wall and mow the cemetery so we can have a visual of the size of the cemetery and determine what type of fencing to install. Fred has submitted the supporting documents to have the Town Administrator begin the process of including Fellows-Webster Cemetery on the town of Chichester tax maps. The Town Administrator will give the information to the Town Planner.

As of today, no firefighter flags have been placed in any of the cemeteries in town.

Fred Shaw, with the help of a volunteer has straightened the Weeks’ monument in Pineground Cemetery. The monument was not centered on its base.

 NEW BUSINESS

The family of Troy Burke contacted the funeral home in charge of his burial to request a repair of the sunken sod at his gravesite in Leavitt Cemetery. This work was completed on July 2, 2025.

Fred and Ruth are continuing the research of all the cemeteries to confirm they are included on the town of Chichester tax maps. Supporting documentation is being compiled for Hook Cemetery and Page Cemetery currently.

Garry Kalajian, Ararat Forge, blacksmith, has made an adjustment to the gate at Morrill Cemetery to correct the sagging gate.

Don Cotnoir, NH Monuments placed cornerstones at the Daroska lot in Leavitt Cemetery. We will prepare the paperwork to submit to the town for his payment.

Ruthie has been notified by family members of the dates of two interments in September.

Alan Clarke has generously offered to donate money towards the cost of straightening/leveling the entrance gate at Leavitt Cemetery.

Brenda will request an estimate for this work from some local fencing companies.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:05 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Brenda Boswak Cemetery Trustee, Secretary
