The Cemetery Trustees, Ruth Hammen, Fred Shaw and Brenda Boswak met on September 1, 2025 @ 9:00 a.m. at the Historical Society building.

OLD BUSINESS

The dirt pile located at the rear corner of Leavitt Cemetery has been removed, the area grass seeded, and stones placed to complete the boundary wall. Road Agent Joe McDaniel graciously accomplished this project, as requested by the Board of Selectmen, in response to a complaint from Scott Tepper about the dirt pile.

We received three estimates to repair Leavitt Cemetery gate. We are not completely satisfied with any of the estimates and the work proposed so a decision was made to postpone this project until next year.

Allan Clark’s trust fund has been created by the Trustees of the Trust Funds.

Brenda spoke with Sandra Ordway about her concerns about the sparse grass cover at her father’s gravesite, (Thomas Lingner) in Leavitt Cemetery. The Cemetery Trustees informed her the grounds maintenance contract provides mowing and trimming only, however we agree with Sandra applying a Grubex type product and grass seed to the area if she chooses to.

NEW BUSINESS

Don Cotnoir, NH Monuments has restored eight gravestones at Leavitt Cemetery and two gravestones at Knowlton-Edgerly Cemetery and cleaned the F.B. Brown monument and family gravestones at Pineground Cemetery. The F.B. Brown Trust money will be used to pay for the cleaning.

Fred and Ruth met with Lane Hodgkins, Hodgkins Painting & Maintenance, to discuss a mowing and brush clearing estimate for Fellows-Webster Cemetery. No estimate has been received yet.

The Cemetery Trustees had a photo display of our ongoing and completed cemetery projects at Chichester Old Home Day on August 23, 2025.

Brenda has been in contact with ‘Sons of Revolution’ organization to compare our information on Chichester’s Revolutionary War veterans with the information their organization has.

Brenda will contact Phil Carpenter, ‘Tree Guy’ once more to schedule stump grinding at True Cemetery

October 7, 2025, is the date for the New Hampshire Cemetery Association seminar. Ruth and Brenda plan to attend.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:00 p.m.

 Respectfully submitted,

Brenda Boswak, Cemetery Trustee, Secretary
